Pin Me Linky Party #13

Friday, December 28, 2012

I hope everyone (who celebrates) had a wonderful Christmas! 2 of my features this week were recipes that I tried out. We made the 30 Min Cinnamon Rolls on Christmas morning and they were a big HIT at our house! So yummy! I made the Easy Cornbread for a family meal and it disappeared quickly. Even my nephews who don't like cornbread gobbled it up!

2012 Diana Rambles Recap

Thursday, December 27, 2012

The Blog
Diana Rambles has undergone many changes in 2012. I started the year with this wintery design~
My posts mostly centered around the bentos I was making for my daughter each day and giveaways for custom 18" doll clothes. I also started a new weekly thematic linky party. In the spring I updated my blog with this look~
I slowed down my blogging over the summer because school was out and I didn't need as many bentos and my blog party ended, but I did blog about my first attempt at gardening. I decided to put more time into blogging in September and started with a new look~
I was really getting into blogging and decided really work on increasing readership. On my 4th Blogoversary I launched my new weekly linky party called Pin Me. Participation in this meme really picked up after I redesigned this blog in November. This total overhaul and reorganization you see here now was largely influenced by my reading of 10 Ways to Grow Your Blog and 10 Way to Make Money Blogging by Six Sisters' Stuff. Those inexpensive ebooks really have some great suggestions!
The Posts
This is my 215th post this year. Here are the 6 posts with the most views this past year.
Ultimate Elf on the Shelf Link Party
The first was written a year ago, but the last 5 were all posted in the last month and a half. Since October, my posts have been featured on other blogs 58 times. Just goes to show you how quickly Diana Rambles is growing! As of today I have 881 followers via GFC, 1000 email subscribers, 617 Twitter followers, 161 Facebook followers (page created this fall), and 554 followers on Pinterest. This is the first year I wrote a recap. I wish I had last year so I could compare. I guess we will see what 2013 brings!

Peppermint Mud Pie

Wednesday, December 26, 2012

For those of you who celebrate, I hope you had a wonderful Christmas. Here is the pie I made for dessert yesterday.
Peppermint Mud Pie

Oreo Crust
Peppermint Ice Cream
Pull the ice cream out of the freezer and let it soften up a little bit. Scoop it into the Oreo crust. (I was in a hurry and my crust broke below...take your time!) Carefully smooth out the ice cream. Put fudge on top. Put in freezer to allow it to harden.
I used a salted fudge sauce from Aldi and it was really good on the pie!

Christmas Crunch

Saturday, December 22, 2012

Last week we went to a party at a friend's house and they had this yummy crunchy mix that I have been craving all week. I emailed them for the recipe. Super easy to make!
Christmas Crunch

1 box corn flakes (~18 oz)
1 bag red & green M &M's
1/2 bag chocolate chips
3/4 cups of corn syrup
3/4 cups white sugar
1/2 cup peanut butter

In a large bowl (like a big punch bowl size) layer half corn flakes, M &M's and chocolate chips, repeat with a second layer and set aside. Put syrup & sugar in a sauce pan and boil for 2 minutes. Turn off heat and stir in a generous soup spoonful of peanut butter (about 1/2 cup). Pour this mixture over corn flakes and stir together gently. The heat of the mixture will melt the chocolate chips. Lay out on wax paper to firm and then break apart to serve.

All I Want for Christmas Bento

Thursday, December 20, 2012

Today begins week 3 of the Bento Bloggers & Friends Ho Ho {blog} Hop. I came up with the "All I want for Christmas is my 2 front teeth!" theme because my daughter recently lost one of her top teeth and the other is about to fall out. For now she's singing "my 1 front tooth', but hopefully she will lost the other by Christmas!
12/19: All I want for Christmas is my 2 front teeth- Turkey & cheese sandwich face w/ nori hair, missing tooth, & eyes. The mouth is cut out of the bread (with marker defining lips) so that the cheese teeth show through. Nori provides the space where the missing teeth were. A tree cookie cutter holds lettuce decorated with Nerds ornaments. The lunch is topped off with Clementine sections.

$1 Custom Iphone Covers

Tuesday, December 18, 2012

This is the final day of my Dollar Tree Craft Week! Today's craft is a $1 Custom Iphone Case.
Iphone Case $1 and up

Iphone Case $1
Modge Podge on hand
scrapbook paper, fabric, or drawing on hand
embellishments on hand
I was excited when I recently saw this Iphone case at Dollar Tree. Even though it had a built in stand, I knew I could make it into a custom case. I just covered it up entirely so the stand can't pop out. Take your paper/fabric and lay the case down on it and trace an outline. Cut it out and apply it to the case. I used some clothes pins to hold the curved edges in place. You can apply any embellishments before or after you put a coat of Modge Podge on the case. I applied Washi tape to this blue cover and then sealed it.
My daughter drew this chevron design. We added quite a bit of glitter to it, but I think it's adorable!
You can even print out a photograph on paper and really personalize your case. This one was created for our White Elephant Gift Exchange.
For $1, you can make a case for just about any occasion or outfit. When I was looking through my fabric stash I could not resist using this Chicago Cubs fabric.
I hope you enjoyed Dollar Tree Craft Week. I am a big fan of Dollar Tree and I will probably come up with more craft ideas in the future.
