Skin MD: Review
A few months ago I was contacted by Skin MD to review their new Skin MD Natural + SPF15 lotion. I was happy to review this item because I was in the market for some lotion to deal with dry winter skin. Since I am light complected and burn easily, I was thrilled with the fact that this lotion had an SPF of 15. I also like that it has natural ingredients. The lotion arrived right away and the test began.
You might think that I've put off this review, but I wanted to give the item a proper test. Winter skin lasts til early March. The bottle is on the small side, but this lotion packs a big punch. You only need to use a very small amount at a time. I like the fact that when you rub it in it's not greasy at all. It absorbs well and I can use my computer or touch things right after use. My dry skin problems seem to be limited to my hands, especially my knuckles. I was using the lotion every few days and waited for my dry skin issues to appear. My hands have been smooth and soft and after a while I just stopped using it on my hands. Finally a few weeks ago my eczema type knuckles showed up so I started using SkinMD again. I was to the point where I didn't even want to wash my hands cause my knuckles were so bad. I wanted *immediate* results, but it took about 3 days and my knuckles started softening up. Yea! I am to the point now where I have stopped using it, but with the weather warming up and being outside more I need some sun protection, so I am going to get into the habit of putting it on daily.
I also used the lotion on my 3 year old's dry skin. Her entire body drys out and gets scaly in the winter. She does not like me to use any lotion because she says it's 'owie'. I am guessing that means it stings? Anyway, she has been OK with me putting the SkinMD on from time to time and it's cut down on her dryness. I think the fact that she allows me to put it on and doesn't complain is a victory. A+ in my book!
As you can see I really like SkinMD and recommend it to anyone with dry skin. It's smooth and non-greasy. I like that it hasn't been tested on animals, is hypoallergenic, is paraben free, and is fragrance and colorant free. Check out this Store locator to find a place near you that sales SkinMD. Most stores carry a sample bottle that you can test out. I had heard of SkinMD before I tested it out, but I ruled it out due to the price. $18 for a 4 oz bottle seems expensive, but this is more than worth it. I've used my bottle sparingly, have been able to get rid of my dry skin, and I feel like the bottle is still full. $18 for a winter without dry skin is a great value. I am sure I've wasted more than that on other cheap lotions that I end up not using. I give SkinMD 2 thumbs up!

HA HA HA...I got this too and forgot about it.Beverly Hills people should know better than to send this stuff to the Midwest in the dead of winter :)
ReplyDeleteHiya Diana. I have been a lurker for awhile to your site since I met ya through freecycle.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to come out of the closet and thank you for posting your most recent review on the lotion. I have been looking for something to control my dry skin especially during the winter. This past winter has been the absolute worst for me with cracking, bleeding, and horrible flaking. I am looking into getting a bottle to try.
Thanks so very much.
Claudia
