My daughter is having surgery soon and will need to say in the hospital a day or so. She's already had a battery of tests and is not thrilled with going for her appointments. I am trying to ease her anxiety through books and play. We have a doctor's kit, but it doesn't have some of the things we need. So I created some. Some things were simple: bandages, hospital bed, mask, but the IV was more involved. I took an old Rx bottle, filled it with popcorn kernals for weight, modge-podged it with some white fabric, ran & glued a wire through the lid, added a bag & ribbon...for a somewhat realistic looking IV. Here are some pics of her playing.

That was a great idea to get her used to the hospital! Bless her little heart!!
ReplyDeleteWow, love the IV. Your hospital, especially if it is a pediatric one, may offer a tour that you can go on in advance of the surgery to help ease her mind.
