Make Something Monday
Go Graham Go & Jolly Mom host Make Something Monday. I made my son's jeans tougher! I guess you can call them homemade tough skins. If any of you have boys you know how rough they can be on jeans. It's hard to make it through a season without blowing out all the knees of all our pants. First I start by marking the knee area while my son had the jeans on. Then I turned the jeans inside out (after he took them off!) and cut out 2 pieces of fleece (like my remnant?) that fit the designated area and pinned them in place. Then I ran the leg up the machine and zig-zag stitched across the top and bottom of the fleece. Then I took the leg off the machine and stitched the fleece to the inside seam which sticks out. That leaves one side unstitched, but I've done this on several jeans in the past and the 3 sides of stitching is enough. You might want to match the thread to the color of the pants...but I am just lazy and went with black. My son could care less and from the pic you can see that the stitching isn't too noticable. These tough skins will last beyond the season!
I forgot to mention... Not only am I frugal, but my boys wear slims and it's very hard to find slims later in the season...so they have to last!! Thank goodness for those adjustable elastic waists! Don't forget to visit this blog on Friday for a new feature!
